1Where else do you DRIVE IN THE RIVER?
Our location is so unique that in order to get into either camp, you must drive in the river. This one thing is really an exclamation point on our remarkable campsites. We are nestled down in a canyon, right on top of the Frio River, which makes for an awesome camp setting.

2You can dress like a giant pancake if you like!
LLYC is the sort of place where a kid can truly be a kid–without the pressures and expectations of being “cool.” Year after year, campers tell us that they love LLYC because they can really be themselves. Our hope and desire is that camp’s attitude would be loving, accepting, and inclusive. We, in summary, want to love people the the way Jesus did.

3In our entire history, we have had ZERO shark attacks.
In fact, there aren’t even sharks out there . . . that is the beauty of not being near the ocean!

4Indoor plumbing!
Enough said.

59:00 a.m. breakfast
Who on earth wants to get up and have breakfast at 7:30 in the morning? At LLYC, we make sure the sun is fully visible before we go for the bacon!

6Spontaneity is our key ingredient to life at camp!
One thing for sure, every day offers something new and exciting in the daily schedule. We love to use the element of surprise to announce a big dance or concert or special event.

7We like to relax!
In our canyon, the only intensity you might find will be in the chutes, sitting on a calf, ready to rumble into the rodeo arena. We really are laid back, and it’s all for a reason. It’s about allowing time to build relationships that are real. Through relationships of integrity, we have the ability to show and tell about the love of Jesus!

8We don’t care if you bring cell phones to camp!
Because in our canyon, there is absolutely no reception. Just think of the minutes you will save over a two-week period!

9The food is H-E-B fresh!
How many camps can say that! We have the best food and menus on the planet.

10LLYC really does offer kids “the best two weeks of their life!”
Even if campers go to Jam Session, we pack two weeks of fun into one week. Seriously, we hear from parents and campers every year who say we delivered what our slogan says!

Bonus Reasons - As if the first 10 were not enough!

  • Chocolate is encouraged!
We want campers and staff to enjoy creation that surrounds them, including one of life’s greatest creations—chocolate!

  • We have the best 1,900-acre playground in the world!
We’re not close to anything, and when our canyon is full, we have the largest population of any town in Real County. But once you get there, it’s heaven on earth. For real, the canyon is amazing!

  • We help campers and parents stay connected through our “Virtual Sugar Shack” and “Inside View” on our website.
You can experience camp with your camper through photos posted daily on “The Inside View.” And after you are through viewing pics, you can click on over to our “Virtual Sugar Shack” and purchase a care package for your camper. This can all be done in the comfort of your own home–with your slippers and robe on!

  • We have searched high and low for a staff that Loves Christ, Loves Kids, and Loves Life.
We believe that our staff is God’s BEST for us! Our staff is passionate about the Lord and desires to serve, love, and honor Him. . . . In doing that, they are intent on loving and serving the campers that have been entrusted to them.
